W14 Video Blog Ep.3

Dear W14 blog readers!

As we are approaching the W14 VATSIM Global Conference in May, here is another useful W14 video, focusing on Vienna's convenient and easy public transport system. The Stage is conveniently located to the Kaisermuehlen/Vienna International Centre subway station - so wherever you stay, its always just a short ride to the conference.

We recommend to get an unlimited ride ticket for travel within the city - its fast, safe, convenient and (best of all) cheap, with 24 hr tickets starting at EUR 7,10, 48 hrs at EUR 12,40 and 72 hrs at EUR 15,40. Further information on ticket options, validity and services available can be found on the website of Wiener Linien, Vienna's local transport company: http://www.wienerlinien.at/

See you in Vienna,

Insider tips

If you stay longer than 48 hours, consider buying a weekly ticket (EUR 15,80, unlimited travel within the city). However, there might be a catch: weekly tickets are valid from Monday 00:00 to the following Monday 09:00 - so if youre departing later in the week, you will need an additional ticket.

Depending on the airline you fly in with, sometimes your self-print boarding pass to Vienna can be used as a discount coupon for reduced CAT tickets - details on this can be found on the pass.

If youre on a budget, consider taking the regional trains to the city - from approx. 3.60, you'll get a single trip. It only takes about 25 minutes to get to Praterstern station, where you can change directly to U1 - just 2 stops from the conference venue.
